PEACE AND PRAYER VIGIL FOR VICTIMS OF HATE SHOOTINGS IN BATON ROUGE, FALCON HEIGHTS AND DALLAS.
This Wednesday, July 13, First Congregational Church is holding a peace and prayer vigil for the victims of the recent hate shootings. The vigil will be outside in the church courtyard at 7 PM (in the chapel if foul weather). The names of the seven shooting victims will be lifted up. Candles will be lit. There will be silence, prayers, singing and scripture reading. The vigil is open to all in the community who wish to pray and reflect on these terrible tragedies. The church’s pastor, Reverend Scott Elliott noted that
“Sadly we are gathering again as community to pray for peace in a nation riddled with bullets fired in hate. This time the tragedies were in Baton Rouge, Falcon Heights and Dallas. We are racked with sorrow and frustration, with disbelief and fear. We are gathering with one another and God to pray and reflect in response to these horrors. All are invited to this peaceful vigil.”
First Congregational Church is located at 200 North Main Street in Mount Vernon
