Candlelight Vigil
For Victims of Orlando shooting

This Sunday, June 19, the First Congregational Church is holding a candlelight vigil for the victims of the Orlando shooting.The vigil will begin in the church sanctuary at 11AM. The names of the 49 victims will be lifted up. Candles will be lit.The church bell is expected to toll for each victim. There will be silence and prayers and scripture reading. The vigil is open to all in the community who wish to pray and reflect on this terrible tragedy. The church’s pastor, the Reverend Scott Elliott, indicated that

“Sunday we are gathering at 11 a.m. before God and one another in our grief and in our astonishment at another mass shooting and another violent attack on our LGBTQI sisters and brothers. We will grieve and remember and pray for the victims and their families. We will also pray for guidance for our nation to put an end to such tragic shootings and horrific violence.
Anyone in the community who wishes to participate is welcome.”
